It would be better if they simply omitted the entire thing. We have just witnessed the most boring of Season's,and 2 of the nicest guys won't be running next season.More excitement to be had sticking pins in my eyes.
Don't bother running, you'll only die tired!!

Bernie gonna Bernie.

How you can omit Germany from an F1 calendar is beyond me. It deserves its place far more than many countries on the list

The excuse is effectively that neither can afford it.
It's supposed to be the emasculated Nurburgring's turn but they're still having financial troubles ( as they have done for several years ) ; Hockenheim is the option but they can't reach a deal ( the usual -- Gollom's demanding too much money for the 'priveledge' of hosting it )

Hopefully Liberty will get rid of Bernie at the first opportunity.

There's talk that Malaysia and Singapore will not renew when they're contracts are up. Might be a ploy to pay less.

The French GP will be back for 2018
Not Magny-Course , though , it'll be at Paul Ricard.

Oh , and who just happens to own Circuit Paul Ricard ??

Didn't see that coming! Just shows the pressure he was under this year. He's a family man I am guessing he doesn't need to do it, as he says he has proved to himself he can do it.
Enjoy your retirement Nico.

Now can Mercedes afford to lose Lewis too if the fall out from the last GP continues? I don't think so. So who will replace him? A set driver or a newcomer?

The replacement is the most interesting aspect of this IMO - I wonder if Jenson could be tempted back? Or maybe they'll buy out Alonso's contract and JB will have to step up at McLaren again?

Whilst the reasons may be different , he's not the first F1 driver to retire after winning their first WDC.

Now you all know who would be the best driver to replace him......but I somehow don't think Hamilton would want him as a team-mate.

I can't see Alonso and Hamilton working together again. I don't think they'd be as hostile as once was but there's probably too much of a shadow there.

Only if Mercedes want someone who'll be a traditional 'second driver' who won't challenge Hamilton.

What Hamilton needs , though , is another driver who'll push him and prevent him becoming complacent.

The usual names are being touted - Vettel , Alonso , Ricciardo - but would they really want it ?
Granted Mercedes were the dominant team for the last few seasons , but with the rule changes for next season there's no guarantee that'll continue ( particularly as it would appear Newey has rekindled his love of F1 )

Similarly lots of calls for Button , but again I think that's unlikely.

As I said , though , would Hamilton want him in the same team ?
Plus there's a good chance RBR will have a vastly improved setup next season , so would Verstappen want to risk switching ?

Verstappen wouldn't go to Red Bull, he's under a contract with them meaning he won't move teams yet
