The cars will all have that horrendous halo next year too.

Barely watched any this year - my interest started to wane when the BBC sold half the rights to Sky, and has dwindled from there, with JB's retirement pretty much reducing me to only a passing interest.

Same here, until 2-3 seasons ago I'd barely missed a race. Now whole weekends can pass me by. I still watch the races but most of them not live any more.

No Kubica then, by the looks of things.......they decided Sirotkin's a better bet ( and the £15mil 'sponsorship' that comes with him )

Williams have a history of 'following the money'. Shame for RK but he was given quite a thorough testing so I think they must have come to the conclusion that they had doubts he could maintain it through a 20 race season. I think ultimately even if he has made a 100% recovery he has been out of F1 too long to get back in.

So should we really believe the hype about Kub?
I like the idea of him making a comeback and going on to become world champion..I mean, its pure Hollywood..but was he really that good?
Take a look at his stats vs Nick Heidfeld.. Robert hardly left Nick trailing in his wake did he?

Oh dear, Hamilton didn't win this year's SPOTY
His sycophants elsewhere are stuffed, though, as they can't resort to their usual accusations of racism which they tend to make against anyone who says or posts anything negative about him

It may not be over for Kubica yet as his management (Nico Rosberg) have offered Williams £7m to prove himself in the first 7 races.

Channel 4 have listed the 10 races that they will show on free to air tv.

After this season (and at least until 2025) ALL live races will ONLY be available on Sky.

It will be interesting to see what the teams think about this move behind a paywall. As I understand it take up of the Sky channel hasn't been huge so when you can only see the highlights at about 11pm they are likely to lose a large % of the audience which won't be popular with the sponsors who pay millions of £ to have their brand names on the cars.

Same races that C4 covered last season, aren't they?
And yet again they miss the season opener.

Paywall? Italy's changing from FTA to PPV this season, so that could give a pretty good indication as to what effect it could have on revenue & audience figures.

UK Viewing figures for live races last year...650k Sky. 1.9m on c4.

Bbc 2015 3.1m
Now admittedly the higher figure for Bbc might have something to do with JB still racing but those comparable figures vs c4, despite the almost unbearable presenters on 4 - do not make good reading for Sky or the future of F1. If its not on free to air the average Joe wont watch it.

In the meantime the manufacturers are getting on board with Formula E.. and just wait til you see the next gen FE car..

Funny how those women who actually do the job - as with other sports which have banned 'walk-on girls' recently - aren't impressed with the decision.

I had high hopes for F1 under new ownership but the more changes they make, the less I like them. The logo looks like it's straight from the 1970s, and some of the stuff that they had on the agenda at a recent meeting boggles the mind (musical interludes during the race broadcast was one!).

Where F1 needs overhaul is in the regulations. Faffing around with grid girls and Michael Buffer for boxing style intros is pointless nonsense. Who has ever been offended by a grid girl, honestly?

As for the TV deal, I think the British GP must remain on FTA TV under the new contract, but everything else will be highlights. I'm pretty much done with F1 now - I wouldn't have paid for it when I was really into it, let alone now with these awful engines, dull drivers, boring tracks, and that's before we even get to the halo. It's not F1 any more, it's so watered down and risk averse.

Could be worse, they could get Danny Boyle to do a London Olympics-style opening parade for the British GP.
Ooops...hope I haven't given them any ideas !
