Sir Roger Bannister, he of the 4 minute mile, has passed away. Italy's Fiorentina football clubs captain, Davide Astoni (31) found dead in a hotel room. Sad news indeed on both counts

Had the pleasure (I think) of working a night shift...sorry, I mean show...with Ken Dodd a few years back. As expected he didn't finish his show until well past 1am and every single person in the audience stayed right until the end - I didn't lock the theatre up until gone 2am! A true gent and comic legend.

There's been many examples throughout the day of the length of his shows. I was never a great fan myself (especially of his singing) but it's obvious that he was very popular with many people.

Last of the old school gone with the passing of Ken dodd.
Comedy with out, swearing filth and smut.

Last show we seen Ken was about 10 years ago at Skegness, fantastically funny and entertaining, think we got out about 2am.
I've seen many of his shows over the last 50 years. from being scared by the Diddymen as a young boy is shows
Where always Brilliant.
Tatty by Ken.

I have to say even though I was absolutely shattered, it was such a pleasure as he enjoyed it as much as the audience and it really wasn't a bore. Tears of laughter and proper aching bellies! He did the odd song as well and even though it was 3/4 years ago, he still had a really great voice - well, it was in tune anyway!!

Ken Dodd was a shock, i can only echo the sentiments about his act, true gentleman who had time for everyone. Went to see him in Liverpool a couple of years ago, He started at 7 prompt and didnt get off stage till 1.45am, i honestly hurt so much from laughing. best one was a guy in front of me had this big bag with him, Ken had spotted me and said to him,

Ken ... Whats that in the bag..

guy... sleeping bag...

ken.... ah youve seen me before then.

Willl be greatly missed by a lot of people.
