The replacement for Chris Evans will have to reflect BBC politically correct policy.

Got to admit i will miss Chris Evans in the morning, i do like the mix and the general enthusiasm for life rather than the boring Terry Wogan i had to put up with for decades! guess i'll have to retune these new fangled digital radios to Virgin Radio.

I've never really liked Chris Evans, but one good thing that he's done was to get Jeff Lynne touring again.

Sara Cox? Can’t think of anything or anyone worse! :hide:
She is an absolute irritant. Couldn’t stand her when she was on Radio 1 years ago - her choice of inane conversation topics, her voice, Christ! Would rather listen to white noise than her!

Thankfully, Greg James is on the breakfast show on R1...

Presumably she's no longer the alcoholic druggy chavette she used to be ( not that that seems to matter when it comes to BBC presenters ) ?

If she's that bad, they could always stick her on nights, she could be Radio 2's equivalent of R5's Adrian Chiles, Stephen Nolan & Dotun Adebayo.

Zoe Ball

Maybe a chance for R2 to win you back with this news...

Simon Mayo and Jo Whiley Radio 2 Drivetime show to end

Shame to see Simon going though

And in typical fashion they'll now alienate lots of other listeners by creating a platform for Whiley in the 20:00-21:00hrs slot and messing up the times of other shows to suit this.

She's a fantastic DJ: hugely knowledgeable and extremely engaging on-air. Granted the Mayo-Whiley show has felt stilted and forced at times, but Whiley's evening shows have always been great. Same with Mayo really - the mix hasn't worked but individually I think they are both excellent at what they do.

They might alienate some, but they will have won over some others for sure.

I'm really not a fan of Whiley, even from her R1 days, I found her voice annoying and her tone a bit condescending. But that's just my opinion, not saying she doesn't do a good job for everyone else. The "Life Hacks" section was just stupid though - hints and tips, teenagers rarely listen to R2 and those that do, can cope without "yoof speek" innit.

It will be interesting to see who they get in to replace the duo, I must admit, I enjoy listening to Craig Charles when he covers for Steve Wright but I don't think he'll get the gig, probably too busy and a bit too marmite.

Bring back Johnnie Walker - still the best drivetime presenter I can remember  :worship:

Him or Mark Radcliffe, assuming and very much hoping that he makes a full recovery from his cancer treatment.

We will have to wait and see who replaces them both.

I found the pre-shuffle drivetime show highly entertaining, the combination of Simon Mayo and Matt Williams worked really well. Unfortunately another example of something that wasn't broken being "fixed"

I don't think that will really be too much of an issue. All they are moving are 'specialist' shows that have a dedicated audience that will follow them to whatever time slot they are on, or most likely these days - listen to them whenever they want on iplayer.

I knew we were in trouble on the first day, when she was proposing to start talking about Love Island and Simon was desperately trying to stop her. He's a great loss: she needs pushing into the darkness and after 2000 hrs is a start.

I'm really really worried about who will take on drivetime now though!

Never underestimate the listeners.
The BBC have messed around with these shows in the past, either my changing the broadcast time/day or binning popular presenters for no good reason ( such as Mike Harding ) which resulted in them losing a lot of listeners.

Radio 2 is looking good for just Ken Bruce's "Pop-Master", not a lot else. I used to enjoy the banter during the Drivetime afternoon shows until the changes a few months ago - Sara Cox will certainly not attract my delicate ears.
LBC is often a good listen, some great heated debates, otherwise Absolute.
I do seem to be changing station on a regular basis now which is a great shame.

I station-hop a lot in the UK, but mainly listen to 6 Music. Radio 2 has been awful for years, with the honourable exception of Popmaster! Steve Wright must have the worst taste in music of any DJ I've ever heard.

TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal is taking over Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Saturday afternoon slot.

The former X Factor contestant and Celebrity Big Brother winner will host a new Saturday show from January, having stood in for Zoe before.

Can Radio 2 go any more downmarket?

It's OK, they're saving him for Radio 5's night-time shows when they need someone to replace Stephen Nolan or Dotun Adebayo.
