When you do a histogram equalise on the photo there's an odd halo. Is this something unique to a supermoon?

Most likely a result of sunlight reflected from the moon and then diffracted by atmospheric water vapour, much like the rainbow-like halo often seen around the moon (if one looks closely enough....).

Thanks sadly it wasn't a clear night there was some very thin cloud about. still The BBC have put it into this as well

There is an F15 against the moon on the Lakenheath Facebook via a link on the lift hand side to web page.
Not to the same high standard as yours but a nice catch.
