Semaine du Golfe 2017 - Morbihan - France

Post by Col. Chibani »

Every other year in May, in the Morbihan Gulf (south of Britanny) takes place the "Semaine du Golfe" (Gulf week) during which classic sailing, rowing & motor boats are invited to navigate accross the Gulf, from harbour to harbour, to play with the tricky tidal streams, to eat oyster and drink wine.
Thanks to the Gulf unique configuration, the public is able to enjoy a close view of the boats from the shore, especially during the 2 parades that open and close the event, featuring more than 1.400 boats from everywhere. Moreover, this year, I was lucky enough to sail among this unique armada.

A few examples (more on my flick gallery) :

First, the endemic sailing boat of the Gulf : the Guépard (Cheetah) build since the 1960's :

Other typical Morbihan boats from the 40's, the Sinagots, fishing boats from the village of Séné :

Special guests, like late French sailing legend Eric Tabarly' Pen Duick, designed by William Fife, build in 1898:

PS : for the geeks : Nikon D7100 + Sigma 150-600 Sport (thanks for the watersealing when shooting from a rocking boat !)

Thanks for watching !
