In October 2005 we bought a family National Trust membership. We've been members ever since. Unfortunately, as the kids have grown up we've definitely not received value for money for at least 5 years. So, in September I decided not to continue our membership - the final day of the current year being 30th November. Having cancelled it, I decided to use it as much as possible locally. Here are a few snaps of those days out:

Re: Last Gasp NT North West
Some lovely shots there.
I quite agree about NT membership. Whilst there are lots of interesting places to visit (not withstanding the miles of coastline and the free for members car parks) unless you're going to visit half a dozen or more places a year it doesn't make for good value. I've never been to any of the places you've photographed so thank you for showing me. Hopefully one day I'll have the time to visit more...

Hi Rich,
These are nice, that house in the first few always reminds me of dazzle camouflage lol.
What is the wooden pole with the coloured glass about?
If I could make one criticism or observation, sometimes less is more. You have an awful lot of pictures here and many of them are almost duplicates of others and have the affect of making the viewer skim through them, which is a shame because you have some very nice images there.
Hope you understand what I’m saying.
Cheers,
Jeff.

I know you think you understood what I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what I said is not what I meant.

Many thanks. The membership is fine if you've got plenty of spare time or you've got 2 or 3 UK based holidays where you intend to use it. If not, I wouldn't bother with it again - just pay on the day.

Little Moreton Hall is pretty impressive and was my absolute first choice of places I'd not been to before. Not sure what the significance of the coloured glass post at Erddig is. Done a bit of digging but not come up with much. Apologies for the high volume - I do tend to post a lot and always struggle to condense them down. I'll make that a challenge for my 2018 posts.
The first two Sundays of the new year were spent walking the dogs along the trails of Tatton Park. Here are a few snaps:
