Watercress Line re Spring Gala 11-02-2018

Post by SEMAE »

Hi

The Gala was from the Friday through to Sunday but I could only go Sunday. Only a few pictures.

It was mostly quite cold and breezy and there was a snow shower.

After parking at Ropley and despite getting a ticket for all day travel, I decided to stay close to one spot and stick to a public right of way for the whole day just a 15 minute walk from the station.

i would have preferred to have done all three days going up and down the lane and getting different pictures but I was either elsewhere or working.

Very nice low level shots. I was there that days as well. Great light most of the day but an evil cold wind. I managed to skip the snow shower by being in the Ropley sheds at the time. Your views of the two complete trains gives a good idea of how empty they were unfortunately. I think many were put off by the doubt about the two Black Fives but it was brilliant work by the Ropley and Locomotive Services engineers to get them both running, one just 24hrs before the first day.
