The London Mastaba by Christo, Hyde Park, London

Post by Pen Pusher »

I went hunting an art installation on the Serpentine in Hyde Park but really didn’t have to go looking far as the 90 meter wide by 20 meter high, 600-tonne truncated pyramid made up of 7,506 brightly coloured barrels kind of jumps out at you. It’s based on the shape of Islamic Mastaba tombs from Mesopotamia with the shape being used later by the Egyptians as the basis for their pyramids. On display until September 23rd, 2018. In the order taken.
