All too much cloud lately but I had a good day in the field a week or two ago with wall-to-wall sun all day, and made the most of it. Typically the day's real rarity didn't really perform but after that it was classics all the way.
Hume's Leaf Warbler, Riverside Park, Newhaven. Should be wintering anywhere from Northern India to South-east Asia, so a welcome sight in Sussex. A proper rarity, annual but less than 10 birds a year.

Male Black Redstart, Shoreham Fort. This was a second go after a visit in which the sun never broke through thick cloud. No probs this time! Black Redstarts breed and winter in small numbers with both spring and autumn migrants more profuse, but most in the South.

Female Snow Bunting, Goring Gap. On seeing the expanse of shingle to search our hearts sank but the sight of a prone birder aiming a camera from about five feet quickly restored us. Easy bird on the East coast, not so much along the South.

Super wolf moon rising over The Burgh, Sussex. Cloud at home meant we missed the "blood" element overnight, made do with this.

Meanwhile in the other direction, towards Arundel:

Barn Owl, The Burgh, Sussex. Finally, what we were really there for....
