Canon EF 1000mm f/5.6L IS DO Lens Patent Surfaces

For the boys with big pockets if it goes into production.

:lol: Need big pockets for that I'm sure. Canon are so overpriced. If you ever wanted to go that far then go for the Sigma 800mm, had it for a few years now it's a great lens.

if you think Canon are overpriced, take a look at the Sony gear............ :oops:

Totally agree and that's one reason I'm running another system in parallel. The other being the abysmal support/development on A mount.

Sony is more expensive because they don't enjoy the same sales volume & therefore economies of scale as Canon & Nikon do. Mind you high performance new designs from anybody with R&D done at current prices are not going to be cheap.
It's also possible that with a smaller market to aim for & fewer of them that dealers don't cut their margins as much as they might when selling Canon & Nikon.
