Canon 7D Mk2 noise?

Post by timuss »

Ive had my 7D Mk2 since December and i have been pleased with it i took it to the US whilst on holiday, and all seemed fine. However it had its first airshow outing at Old Warden and i have been underwhelmed by it to be honest. I used it at the Season premier with my old 100-400 and the results were decidely mixed then at Duxford i used it with the new 100-400 and much the same to be honest a very mixed bag. Has anybody else had an experiences like this just wondering what the best course of action would be i bought it via Jessops wondering to send it back via them or do it myself directly to Canon??

Canon are likely to say that under UK Law your contract is with the retailer so if you have an issue with the product you will need to return to to them in the first instance.

I have to say that mine seems OK. I attach a link to the thread I posted of the Duxford show: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=77390. All the shots of the flying were taken with a 7DII with 100-400 II.

The 7D Mk1 was known to be relatively noisy but I understood the Mk2 was improved. What sort of ISO were you using because that will make a big difference to the noise levels.

Low 100-200 max used extensivley at DX and at Old Warden. I think it may just be over analysing the images pixel peeping to much.

At those ISOs I'd expect it to be up there amongst the best crop sensor performers.
Some people suggest the 70D/80D are marginally better but I can't comment having only used Sony and Nikon.
With similar models/sensors, I find my Nikons performs better than Sonys particularly 400+.
