After experiences earlier this year I took a decision not to get embroiled in the debates re ‘558, hence why I have posted this here and not elsewhere.

However I would like to go on record and state the high value that Newark places on an open and active dialogue with aviation enthusiasts of all persuasions; hence why I agreed to contribute further with a Blog on UKAR.

The simplest way I can express this came from my own experience with working with the Heritage Lottery Fund – “Work with people and not against them!”

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the fact that it might not always agree with the way someone else perceives things – shouldn’t stop that opinion being expressed and listened to!

Open Cockpit Weekend 17 & 18 October, 2009

Postby NAM Updater on Sat 10 Oct 2009, 3:19 pm

Sadly details of Newark Air Museum’s Open Cockpit Weekend were finalised too late for inclusion in the Blog!

However on October 17th & 18th, 2009 we’re hosting a special two day open cockpit event. This will provide rare viewing experience of a number of the museum’s historic aircraft cockpits, which normally remain in-accessible.

The two ‘stars’ of the show will be the two former Soviet Air Force MiG jet fighter bombers, which are unique to Newark Air Museum. The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 and MiG-27 “Flogger” aircraft are the only ones displayed in any British aviation museum.

Full details can be found here!

The full exhibit list on the website is altered by NAM’s web-design company and sadly I’ve been too busy to advise them of what needs doing. Also they’re busy laying out the next member’s Dispersal newsletter (again when I get chance to brief them).

I’m afraid it’s a case of too much to do and not enough time to do it!

I have, at your prompt however updated this news item! :surrender:

Plus a footnote was added here on April 27th c/w a new picture!

Thanks for your positive feedback and comments!

Your choice of the word ‘accept’ is an interesting because I think you’ll find that all of the venues that have acquired Nimrods have actually purchased them!

The next bit is going to sound very boring but it nevertheless accurately reflects NAM’s current situation – we haven’t moved on significantly from the Blog comments or what is stated here! :cuppa:

If anything changes we’ll certainly let everyone know!
