Well done Sam for attending the Typhoon restoration project launch, but I have to say I cannot agree with your opening line about the Typhoon being one of the most underrated and least known of RAF WWII types.
I'd say the complete opposite and it was comfortably in the top ten to be honest. Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito, Lancaster, Wellington, Dakota aside, what else would you rank above it? Especially compared to the vast array of types pressed into service or serving in very small numbers or unlike the Typhoon, either made obsolete very quickly or much maligned such as Hampdens, Whitleys, Defiants and Battles or even the Whirlwind you mention?
I wish them every success though and certainly look forward to seeing the end result.

I'd personally say the Tempest was far superior to the Typhoon but for many, is even less well known than the Typhoon.
