Next Update for DCS World will include free TF-51D

Post by Wissam24 »

This means you will have access to an Su-25T and TF-51D, both with Advanced Flight Models and 6DOF cockpits for free. Both are top quality simulations and the Mustang will have a clickable cockpit.

They're also going to release and F-15C stand alone pack with the same level of simulation as the A-10C

No more sudden changes of AoA when touching the stick which is an issue with the current flight model :yahoo: it's even going to model the centre of gravity from the fuel in the tanks!

Yeah the update will also include the F-15C AFM (and Su-33 3D cockpit) - it's worth mentioning though that it will not have a clickable cockpit like the A-10C. It'll be closer in simulation to the current A-10A and Su-25 actually. The stand alone F-15C module will almost certainly be the same as the aircraft in the FC3 module, just on its own like the A-10A and Su-25 currently are.

I'm not sure if it'll be released at the same time as the next update though - FC3 probably remains the best value for now, as you'll be getting 3 aircraft with AFMs, 5 with 3D cockpits and the rest will be updated over time.

Regardless this is a hell of an update!

And for those who cant wait (like me) the 1.2.8 update is available as an open beta as we speak. The F-15C AFM is starting to feel pretty damn good, it's still not quite there, but it's closer than ever. Really looking forward to the Su-27 and MiG-29 AFMs tough, I think those will be a lot more fun than the Eagle.

Poor Mig-29, it's my favourite fighter and it hasn't even got a 6dof cockpit yet :(

Agreed, apparently they are working on both a 6DOF cockpit, a new external model and an AFM for the MiG-29, but knowing Eagle Dynamics, that's probably years away.

Yeah I'm not holding my breath. That said, if they just tasked it to Belsimtek we'd probably see it by July.

Do you really have to download the entire thing and can't patch though?

You should be able to patch. It comes with an updater. Double clicking the desktop icon ought to go to the updater. Otherwise the updater should be in the start menu

Im quite happy with the way the Eagle turned out, even though I would have preferred a complete "study sim", at least it feels like a fast jet now. I had no idea how much of a "rock" the Eagle is at slower airspeeds though, it pretty much stops flying when you slow down beneath 200 knots.

Now bring on that damn Hornet! :P

Took 3 launches to get it to load the updater on boot lol.

I like the F-15 flight model... makes me remember to check my dials in the cloud, pulled hard dogfighting in the merk and I'd stalled.... cue crash.

They seem to have finally fixed the R-27ER too, previously it seemed only 1 in 4 would track... they now always do. They seem to have cocked up the R-73 though, haven't had one hit yet since the update.

We should have a UKAR Eagle Meet some time, and/or TF-51D meet.

Didn't get a chance myself, didn't want to wait around to have a go and they didn't have the MiG-21 up while I was there, but from what I saw it looked good.

If you download the free DCS World game, it comes with the TF-51 module included. This version has no weapons, sight or centreline fuel tank. I assume the version at Duxford was the P-51D which is the paid module and has all of that. Try the free version first and if you enjoy it, I'd recommend the paid module!

Blimey, I'd hope it's out by then! I won't be at Legends though, I'll be at RIAT instead.

VEAO announced that they'll be showcasing the Sabre at Legends, so I assume it won't be.

Fw-190 to be released in August.

VEAO are also working on the A-4 Skyhawk, which they announced in a cheeky manner today. Exciting stuff.

The only problem is, as all of these aircraft get release closer together, I'm not going to be able to afford them all :(

I think the FW-190 will be the first DCS module (well apart from Combined Arms) that I'll pass on. Im sure it will be another quality module from ED, but I just can't get exited about flying another world war two-era aircraft in modern day Georgia (or Nevada for that matter).
