How to increase frame rates fsx:se

Hi all,
I have FSX steam edition and just bought the typhoon add on. It is really jerky with a maximum of 14 fps and a minimum of 2.7 All the other aircraft are around the 35 mark which is as good as I would want the typhoon. I haven't got a very good computer for it but I hope I can at least get it up to the standard of the default aircraft. What sort of settings should I do that will make it better?

You're not running it in a compatibility mode are you? I had the odd add-on that ran like a dog and practically ground my PC to a halt because of this.

I'm not sure, how do I check it and change it?

post up your pc's specs and I might be able to point you in the right direction

but water levels set to x 2 high, aircraft cast shadows on itself and light bloom are frame rate killers
