35th scale Mil-4 - Markings - Page 3

Re: 35th scale Mil-4 - Markings - Page 2

There are a few dents, but you can't really see them and they are hard to photo. Looking at real photos, there isn't that much damage anyway. So i've only done the bare min just to give it a bit of character.

Once all the main paint work is done, I'm going to go around with two colours to pick out details, like scratches showing metal / primer.

Great skill on the Polish markings, wouldn't it be easier to use decals then Salt weather over them using White.

You're obviously a man that likes a challenge

It's not clear in the photo but there is blue coming through the marking, and to get this the only way is paint. Also, once I start doing the seam/rivet chipping's there is less chance now of the decal lifting where there are seams and rivets under it, with paint it sits in and gives it that better look. Thanks Scott :)

Little more done. Mainly repairs on the boom that I wasn't happy with. Started to grease some seams too on the gondola, Got a few reference photos showing how dirty it gets, will post them soon.

Put some Tamiya tape along where it's split and will place superglue over the top and let sit for a day, then carefully rub back to the join. Will do this with tape in place so I can see if i'm causing to much damage to other areas.

It just gets better and better.. Are you going to build any kind of base for this kit? I sure would look great with overgrown grass or something surounding it.

Exactly that, I've got the wood at my parents house. But I'm not starting the base until the wheels are finished. Cheers Fumbles.

I am little more than an enthusiastic amateur, so I have been quietly totally absorbed by this thread, following the intricate detals as the model progesses. It is simply marvellous. I cannot wait to see the finished article but, equally like someone else, so fascinated by the process that I don't want it to end!! :worship: :worship:
