Revell 1/72 Su-25 Frogfoot **Finished**

Postby Thommo95 on Wed 15 Feb 2012, 11:03 pm

Well following on from my Italeri F-15C which i posted last night thought I would start this topic up of a current build,

Second model with the airbrush and tried some freehand camo ... maybe not the best idea but i think after the hour spent trying to get colours right, and touching up the camo I am happy with the results :smile:

Pre-Shading;

and the weapon loadouts;

Hope to start decalling tomorrow with a gloss coat just gone on tonight

Comments and any suggestions to improve greatly welcome,

Nick

That looks like a really nice paint job!
Freehand in 1/72 too - very well done.

If you don't mind me saying, I think the u/c needs a bit of tidying up - try to get the 'flash' off the parts before you go in with the paint.
Have you hand-painted the undercarriage and weapons?
If you have, I'd say spend a bit more time on airbrushing these parts to bring them up to the standard of the main aircraft because that really does look nice (did I say that already?? :grin: ).
(In the case of the wheels, spray the hubs white (or green even!) and brush paint the tyres black is my usual approach).

What paints do you use by the way?

Thanks for the positive feedback on the camo makes the hour or so spent trying to do it all now well worth it :grin:

The weapons and landing gear were painted by hand prior to me getting my airbrush, i will probably leave the weapons as they are as already decalled, but thanks for the advice, something i will take into my next build. :smile:

The paints used were Vallejo Model Air range great paint for me as already pre-thinned ready for airbrushing so don't need to try and find the right match between thinners and paint.

Thanks once again for the advice and positive feedback on the camo,

Looks good and fair play to you for trying new things out. Are your pre shaded sections showing through at all? It looks like they've disappeared in the pics.

The pre-shading has been slightly lost in the pictures but shows through quite nicely on the underside; it however, as you said has been lost slightly due to the dark colour of the camo,

Quick Update, started applying decals which I think I should finish some point today,

Revell 1/72 Su-25 Frogfoot **Finished**

Postby Thommo95 on Wed 07 Mar 2012, 9:47 pm

First of all sorry for the lack of updates since the last update. But schoolwork caught up with me but past few days managed do get a lot done to a state I would call finished.

So the model is finished, it is "Red 25" from the afghanistan conflict, so weathered it a quite a bit to make it look like it has been in a war. The model is the Revell 1/72 example that i got for a fiver a year back.

The model is finished using Vallejo Model Air Acrylics and Tamiya Acrylics.

So on with the pictures;

I hope you like the model, I think I will continue the Russian builds and am planning to make a Zvezda Su-24 next

Also could anybody let me know how to change the title of the thread so it says "Finished" instead of "WIP"

You've done a great job, just a shame you didn't tidy up the wheels
