Well i have applied the 3 tone camouflage using bristle brushes
This was taken using artificial light


This was taken using natural light


What do you think.

Well done to get this far given the discussions we have had about colour - think I would have been tempted to bin it!

A suggestion - if you run KrystalKlear - or milk consistancy pva - around the gap between the canopy transparencies and the fuselage, let it dry and then paint over you'll lose that gap.
Llook forward to seeing it finished - I think you have made a wise move to leave the afterburners off until all the other paintwork is finished.

This is shaping up nicely to be a cracker.
I personally think a bit of weathering will help to make this one look so much better.
Its up to you at the end of the day WELL DONE and Keep it Up

Well i have almost finished this. It has been in like this for a few weeks now but i have only just got round to doing a few photo's. In my opinion it is done apart from applying a flat varnish.
Can you notice the deliberate mistake ??? Do i need to tell you what it is ?????









This is the first time that i have painted a whole model with gloss paints and it was a learning curve and one that i hope not have to repeat again for a while.

Any how comments and criticism welcomed and will be taken on board for future builds.

If you could get a 'satin' varnish on it, it would tone down the gloss, but you would have to seal your decals first.

Yep looks good, as Deacon says a coat of varnish would settle that finish down nicely though, just to even it out a little . Not a criticism of you, it's inevetable with brushes!

Deliberate mistake; hmmmm. I don't think you have got the woodgrain effect quite right on the base - is that it?

Or could it be the star'n'bar on the upper wing is on the starboard not the port one? Any prizes for guessing right?

Re the Decal Mistakes happen, but does not detract from the build.

Try the AlcladII Semi Gloss range of varnish - might be a bit cheaper than Klear (well a real bottle of it!) and Klear will give you a Gloss coat anyway (unless you mix it withTamiya Flat!)

If they do the Aqua range, this is a bit better than the more conventional enamel range (in my opinion)

Deliberate mistake - star and bar on the wrong wing?

If your going to Flat/Satin coat it then you will not require to seal the decals first unless you are planning on applying a panel wash before hand, as the varnish will seal them. As for the Star and Bar on the wrong wing, easily fixed.... get some Micro-Sol and apply a small amount on top of the decal to loosen it from the paint surface, this will take about 30 secs. Then using a paint brush gently praise it away from the wing and reapply in the correct position be careful though as the decal will be delicate. If you didn't use a setting solution for the decals in the first place then water should work fine.

Thanks for all your replies and well spotted chaps on the star 'n' bar on the wrong wing but have a look at the paint and decal sheet below i thought it was wrong at the time but i went along with the instruction sheet instead of checking



See what i mean.
Anyhow not to worry i shall be rectifying my mistake soon.
