Just a quick question: Glue?

Post by Timc »

When I built models as a kid it seemed the only glue around was a tube of poly cement and from memory it got everywhere!

So the question is what type and brand do the modeller's use nowadays?

Still use the good old fashioned poly cement myself.... Revell and humbrol brands are the tubes I currently have...

I haven't used a tube in long time.

I use:-

Revell Contacta until the tube clogs up - major pain.
Humbrol liquid poly for most jobs
Superglue for those tiny bits and metal parts
White PVA glue for clear parts

Many thanks for the replies chaps, had read about the use of super glue but a little unsure on what bits you use it on?

Take it PVA is pretty much the same as wood glue possibly?

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll make a start on the Pit Road Vulcan over the weekend!

Wipe the tube after use, or, if it jams up use a piece of fuse wire.

Tamiya liquid stuff decanted into a Mr Cement bottle (better brush). I went to liquid glue at the start of the year and personally found it much easier and cleaner to work with.

Tamiya Extra thin is definitely the way to go. Tamiya Cement is pretty good but I found it very similar to Revell Contacta.
