Modern Aerobatic aircraft

Modern Aerobatic aircraft

Postby Lomcevak26 on Wed 18 Mar 2009, 12:09 pm

Hey all,

Seeing as Modern Military and Airliners get their fair share of type-devoted threads, I thought I'd start one in here. I'm a huge fan of aerobatic aircraft - purpose-built, high-octane types designed solely for the purpose of allowing those flying them to rotate wildly, but beautifully, around the skies. Or something like that...

So, lets see what you've got! Russian/ German/ French/ US-built...at airshows, at airfields...seasoned display performers or rarely seen, hangered gems...the choice is yours!

The focus is on modern types, but it'd also be good to get a classic aerobatic aircraft thread up and running at some point with older Zlins, Jungmeisters etc included.

Here's a couple to kick things off:

Brian Lecomber's well-known Microlease-schemed Extra 300L at Biggin Hill Air Fair 1999...

Image

...and, from the same show, something a bit more elusive - Cap 202 F-WWMX...

Image

Mods, please feel free to move this into Golden Oldies if its more appropriate there!

FOTO4, your Pitts S-2C shot is lovely!

TJJ - excellent! Tom Cassells' check-schemed Cap 232 is one of the nicest looking of 'em all, I think...

Some more very nice shots going up guys.

Edicap, your angle on the Su-26 reminds me of the 2006 Red Bull Air Race at Longleat - anyone who was there should know what I mean!
