Oxford Gliding Club and the snow

Postby GliderGuider on Sun 08 Feb 2009, 11:51 am

Hi all

Oxford Gliding Club members had a very enjoyable day's flying yesterday and the views from up above were marvellous. A few were even daft enough to fly in the T21! Here's a few pic's of the day.

Likewise, the T.21 is very nice - done my first solo in a T.21 (only because I couldnt fit in a TX1!!!)

The "Barge" is certainly nice to fly in but not for me on a cold day, I'll wait till the blistering hot summer we are going to have this year! I believe the intention is to bring it along to Abbo, static only of course.

I'm another one who had a first solo in a T-21. Love the photos, hard to pick a favourite.

nice photos, what is the major road in piccie 5? can't say gliders interest me very much, I take it the T-21 is WJ306? if so then she does look lovely.

The road is the M40, had the picture been a bit further around to the left you would be able to see Bicester Airfield as well. I went solo in a Barge in the snow at Challock, with a bog of cement in the right hand seat to ensure I didn't make any mistakes.

Thanks for all your kind comments.

Yes Raiford WJ306 is the T21 built way back in the fifties.

Here's a few more pic's from the day the first is forTuggie, Bicester golf course is nearest the camera and Bicester airfield is in the distance at the far side of the town

Image

The next two are of Weston on the Green which if the developers get their way will become a so called Eco-town, approximately 2/3rds of the land in each picture would be built on
