Runway Opening of Lee Airfield 10th March 2015

Post by FastJetsBest »

Hey all,

Amazing day today at Lee airfield, it was the opening of the newly resurfaced runway of 05/23. Helping the furture of the airfield which will soon be licensed. Being right on the coast should make it a lovely place to fly from and too.

Thanks to all that made it happen and came along and of cause all the residents that brought there aircraft along out in the lovely sunshine (most of the day).

So many pictures from today but here are a few..

Here are a few aerial pictures taken at 05 end of the runway for the cutting of the tape. Thanks to Hampshire Aeroplane Club based at Lee airfield for taking me up in there C172 for these.

All but two aircraft are based at Lee here,

Always look forward to your posts FJB. Looks like there is a very good future for Lee Airfield.

Good to see the Harvard still flying. Had a very nice flight in this when it was based at Perth during the late 90s!

Did anyone get any pictures (or video) of the Spitfire Mk26 - G-CEFC in the air passing "B" hangar just after the opening ceremony?

I wish I did, it was a lovely pass. I saw it just as we was taxing back to Hanger B, looked great from the Cessna 172.

Please accept my apologies for hijacking the thread, but.....

Your wish is my command. I happened to walk out of the hangar at the right moment!

As a bonus I'll also include two shots of 94 year old ATA veteran Peter Garrod trying the replica Spitfire for size
