Scone and a bimble over the Cairngorms

Post by wallace »

Thursday was a cracker of a day, so I jumped at the chance of a flexwing flight over the Cairngorms.
I left the big camera behind and took my old classic 5D and the nifty-fifty and selected the seldom used P for pilot mode.

The point where a trike become an aeroplane.

Did you see that Fokker below us?
No, but it did see Russ and his Eindecker!

My friend's a Nikon man but I will never hold that against him as his in-flight pictures are superb. Proving it's not the camera make that's important.

We flew over and around Cairngorm at 5,000ft, which was really cold, I was grateful for the heated gloves by then but wished that I remembered to bring the heated insoles.

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance is based at Scone. Their regular EC135 is away for maintenance, this is the old Police Scotland aircraft on the pad.

I finished the day off with a night shoot. I had been after a photo of this P68 for a while. Seen here after some maintenance by ACS Engineering before returning back home.

There are lots more photos to upload, I'll maybe post some more later.

A great little set, do like the unusual angle the flight afforded of the Cairngorns.
