2010 Participation

Postby DylanLlewellyn on Thu 29 Apr 2010, 10:16 am

Compared to just about every other show thread Culdrose seems notoriously quiet, any info on participants?

Maybe the weather will turn up this year without 7 hours of rain or a 50 feet cloud base?!

Collating info from various sites, the KLu F-16 and Jordanian Falcons are also due for Culdrose.

Needless to say, the RNHF and Black Cats will be in attendance.

Virtually nothing from the RAF, unfortunately.

Looking pretty thin full stop for Military participation this year! Nothing from the French Navy so far or anyone else for that matter, fingers crossed it will improve as we get closer!

Participation list now up on the Culdrose website

http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/operations-and-support/establishments/naval-bases-and-air-stations/rnas-culdrose/rnas-culdrose-air-day-2010/events/in-the-air/

Some nice stuff there, but a bit more current military wouldn't go amiss. Can't believe the RAF won't be sending anything at all?

That is looking poor, I have been an avid supporter of this show through all the pants weather! Might give it a miss this year though if it doesn't pick up! It always amazes me they dont line up everything based there as well like they used to Yeovilton!

Oh well, time will tell I guess!!

According to the 45(R) Squadron Web Site, they will be providing a King Air for the flying display. Perhaps Culdrose are waiting for confirmation from other units before they include RAF participation.

Just noticed on RN website:  Merlin ASaC (Full size mock-up) S

Yes static, but nice to see, guess it won't be the 2 tone grey as Augusta's press release, but not a CU, as it will be one with the bag on a pallet hanging out the door, so a RAF cab (soon to be the Navys) or one of westlands 2 green Aw101 demo, that seems unlucky, and info anyone?

Hi, thanks, yep that sounds right, I wasn't there on VU airday, but have been in it a few weeks ago, a very old Merlin, newish floor in it. I guess it will come thurs or more Likley Friday, and they will just borrow one from CU ? Let's hope it doesn't rain in the back , (light rain showers on tues) I hope it's outside to photograph and not in a hanger, shame it's not flying withe bag blown up, it could look not so exciting without the pressure.

Will the VC10 show up??
Please please can we have the 2nd, 2 tone grey Wildcat, complete with side fins flying!!!! :-)

The Algerians are at Newquay for the forseeable, though I doubt we will see any at UK airshows, they are very publicity shy.

Shame about the F-16, sounds like a trip to Newquay coming up for the Algerians! Its a real shame CU gets treated like the poor cousin of Yeovilton when it comes to the show, but I am sure the weather for the last 3 years wont have helped this!

I will be there all the same, fingers crossed for sun!
