Avenger T1 - Royal Navy (Static)
Hawk T1 - Royal Navy (Static)
Merlin HM2 x 2 – Royal Navy (Static)

Based at RNAS Culdrose, these three types are at the forefront of modern day FAA operations and they’ll all be on show at Air Day on Saturday 7 July. See the FAA’s newest fixed-wing type, its ‘Maritime Aggressor’ and its primary submarine-hunter up-close on the ground within our extensive international static display. The Avenger T1, introduced in 2012, is used for observer training, with four examples equipping 750 Naval Air Squadron. They’re based alongside the 14 Hawk T1 jet trainers of 736 NAS whose taskings include simulated airborne interceptions and ship attacks. Also stationed at Culdrose are four Merlin HM2 squadrons. These mighty anti-submarine helicopters feature digital cockpit displays, cutting-edge sonar technology and state-of-the-art radar systems. These static aircraft will join the already confirmed Sea King ASaC7 – great support from our sister station, RNAS Culdrose!

The official site has the USAF C-17 Globemaster and USN P-8A Poseidon as being in the flying display. I assume this is in error.

It’s definitely an error.

It’s an error and will be rectified as soon as the RN Web Team can get to it.

There's only three Merlin squadrons at CU now. 814,820 and 824. 829 amalgamated with 814.

I am just glad its back in some form as I know there were fears last year that with it gone it was never coming back, hopefully as the upgrades continue it will increase in size over the years but getting a pair of Hawks back is a nice surprise as it had been reduced to a single for a few years.

For sure. It's welcome.

Tbf the commando force hasn't much available atm. A lot of their Junglie fleet are in various stages of conversion to HC4 standard (I think, what, 12 are currently at Yeovil?) and I think those remaining are stretched, servicibility-wise. There was some amazement they were able to field 4 Merlins for Ten Tors last weekend.

Great to see it back, if because of the intent, rather than content. But then I loves me a good Merlin flying around, so top marks from me.

I guess with the HC4 upgrades and the mounts being painted grey, will this be the last time we see the Merlins as olive-green?

Not yet, but saw a post on their Facebook that they're sorting those out now so I'd expect them to arrive soon-ish.

No tickets for me yet. Waiting on arrivals day and a grandstand ticket. Anyway, that Alouette is a stunning addition. If the weather plays ball, and everything turns up, it's a hell of a show.
