Re-Think for on Base Parking

If they seriously want to do something about it they need to limit the number of people using the base to park on this year rather than run the risk of another large increase or similar number of vehicles turning up. Regardless of what they do, I certainly won't be parking on the base this year, opting to either use the Park and Ride or stay a little further out and use the train.

All being well, I'll be staying at the Cameron Guest House in St. Andrews and will take the Bus and jump off at Leuchars Rail Station, then walk up from there as usual.

By the way, I notice that The Courier is printed by D.C. Thompson, they also print the Leuchars airshow programme. And of greater historical importance, the Oor Wullie and Broons books!

I am waiting to hear what the arrangements are to be for motorcycles parking on the base ie. will there be a limited number of spaces set aside to be sold in advance to get your bike on the base or is it only to be for cars? I have not used the car for the last 20 years and always scoot on and off the base without a problem. Up to now the organisers have been very biker friendly. There has always been a section of hard standing set aside for bikes and the marshals are good at directing the bikes where to park. Can't say I would be too keen on using the park and ride, which will be somebody's field, to leave the bike on some uneven surface mixed in amongst the cars then sit in a bus in all my biker gear for however long it takes to get to the base.

Had a reply regarding motorcycle parking on the base. Good news for motorcyclists at least. Well done Leuchars

"Many thanks for your email. I can confirm that no parking payment is required for Motorcycles and that parking is available on base.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

With kind regards

It'd be nice if they had a re-think of the static too..

This is how we tackle the traffic problem, keep shooting the static till they throw you out then set up the barbie in the car park, crack a few beers, fire up the laptop and download the day's images, have a snooze, then at 20 45 join the back of the queue and head home in time for beer and curry. Sorted.

Pretty much what I did and staying on for the static later that evening was well worth it well done to the folks at Leuchars for fixing those barriers some of the best static shots I got
