Also, after the RAF Falcons, a great big aircraft came in, prop, not jet, I think I heard someone say they had dropped off the Falcons.... what was that?

Just thought I would ask, did the RAF Typhoon Display cancel on Saturday? Have been wondering why I never saw it, mind you I had to leave after the Koreans so I may have missed it.

No - it did display - towards the end of the afternoon - just before the NZ 757 if my photos are anything to go by...

So if I read the display programme correctly they must have swapped it with the Swiss Hornet. Also did it land or just fly through? Was it operating from elsewhere?

In the current climate of reduced foreign participation and ever tightening purse strings, this year's line up was superb. 19 countries attending is almost IAT-esque and some really rare kit amongst that - Algerian C-130, Aussie Wedgetail, Norwegian Falcon 20, Army Bell 212 etc. From that aspect the organising committee need applauding

Seemed slightly odd not to end with a showstopper such as Frecce, Reds or Typhoon. The static is still a pain at times. Did the Wedgetail need the over zealous fencing wrapped around it? Would the Phantom have not been better on Alpha along with the not seen by some 3sqn special Tiffie? The ramp with the Hawks and Algerian was very good when the crowds had depleted. Leave the long line to the unmarked F-16s and puddle jumpers.

A big improvement on recent years, Waddo was truly international again, lets hope it avoids the clash with the Belgian and Dutch shows again next year.

Hi Guys

Went for arrivals friday and the show saturday, I thought they did a good job, on the whole, nice static, badly parked and fenced off, but we get used to that........

There seemed large holes in the static, is this case of items cancelling at short notice.

Thought the flying programme was one of the best for years, and they did a really good job.

Thought the weather was kind all things considered, and with how bad it has been this summer........ oh sorry wet season.........

All the best

I realise static aircraft are not a Trevsy thing, but the work the organising committee put in this year to secure a superb list of rarities such as Aussie Wedgetail, Algerian Herc, Noggie Falcon, Army Bell 212, Swedish Argus, Czech CASA and tiger Gripen, last chance German Phantom, anniversary Tiffie and Hawk and all the other goodies was surely worthy of a mention somewhere in the text? :dunno:

Good to see his dislike of the Tiffie display was also backed up by the trophy awards at RIAT :worship:

one of the best ones for a long time. big thanks to everyone involved in organising the event.

Thoughts on static. A bit spread out but the over zealous fencing of the wedgetail, I know the reasons behind it so just having it there was a bonus.

Thoughts on flying. Why on earth did they have the Typhoon on so early i missed it because i went for a walk. Bugger!!! It was great to see a display by the Sentry which proved quite maneuverable and it is the first time i have seen one of them display albeit a nato one since mildenhall in 1989. There was a big v shaped gap in the display but that couldnt be helped due to events out of waddingtons control. I was hoping for big things for the Saudi Hawks but was not impressed. The Black Eagles were an unknown quantity and did not know what to expect and due to this when they displayed I was extremely impressed by their display and hope that they come back soon, for a display team to eclipse even the Frecci is amazing but they did.

one massive complaint is, food. as we had done Legends the day before we didnt take food with us, so with it being in Lincolnshire Waddington usually had local fayre as in Lincolnshire sausage sandwiches. but no it was the rip off dog burger merchants. if no one got food poisonning from the stand next to the ViP tent i would be very surprised, they were filthy and the chicken they used in their kebabs was placed next to the griddle which is a recipe for Salmonella! so went to another place but that wasnt much better.

food quality and price has to improve. but apart from that it was a very enjoyable day and will be back next year as normal.... with a packed lunch

Fantastic display and day out, we went on the Saturday and wasn`t disappointed...what a flying display.

Yeah, the static was thin on the ground, I suppose this is inevitable...but what was there, was grand (Wedgetail, Phantom, Hercs, Gripen etc...)

Very well done to the Waddo team...looking forward to 2013...
DSLR less for the moment...

Typhoon had to be on early due to a display at Goodwood in the afternoon and needed a 5 hour gap for turnarounds!

Just to ask as I've been thinking back to my 2 big Shows This Year (never got to that many in recent Years) Waddington and Leuchars can anyone tell me wether or not when the RAF Falcons landed did the Hercules do it's usual Flypast for the Salute, I'm sure it didn't but I may have missed it as at the time that happened I was on my way back to our Vehicle........? Oh I was there on the Saturday only.

The C130 made a straight in approach to land with no flypast as it was not a dedicated crew.
