Naughty fields

Postby Excalibur1990 on Tue 21 Jun 2011, 2:35 pm

We're thinking of avoiding the crush this year and looking for some photo opportunities different to those on the airfield. Anybody got any good suggestions? I notice there's usually a bunch of people at the A15 end of the runway for example. I'm particularly interested in hearing of associated parking spots - I don't mind a yomp of a mile or so if need be.

It would be nice if the responses were on topic rather than descending into a bitch-fest about freeloading!

I've never taken any notice really but do know they cone off the verges even on the country lanes for quite a way a round the airfield. and I don't know of any farmer who has park and view either.

It'll be a lot further than a mile if you hope to park and walk.

Thanks for the sensible replies. I think we'll try Bracebridge Heath assuming there's not too many other people doing the same (don't want to hack off the locals).

Just watch out for the no parking boards and cones as they are patrolled by traffic wardens on mopeds!

Ive always noticed that theres a significant build up of people on a large hill thats a walk down the A15 from Bracebridge Heath on airshow days, the hill in question appears from the crowd line to be behind the active taxiway stop line (speaking in line of sight terms)

A belated thanks for the information above. We parked in Bracebridge Heath, walked down the A15 and got some good shots.
