Before anyone says im freeloading I will be paying to go in to Waddo on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Nice idea, but at present we would struggle to get Voyager off the runway!

Did the Virgin A340 that used to do circuits at Waddo ever land there?

I thought 9000ft was plenty for an A330??

I think it's the taxyway widths that Waddington would struggle with.

Is the A330 voyager much bigger than the Sentry and rivet joint that are/ will be based at waddo or is it because it is much heavier than them?

Interesting. Shame. Good job waddo for getting the KDC10 and C17!

Its a shame the voyager and vc-10 probably won't be in attendance at waddington this year but I'm glad there are a decent number of bigger aircraft such at the c17, Kdc-10 and the 5 hercs present! Hopefully a few more interesting assets from at home and a little further afield soon. Is there a chance of the any of the royal navy's historic flight being added?

The wingspan is the main factor. I believe the amount of RAF bases able to take an A330 is relatively small, and if so it's not easily.

We're in danger of straying away from topic. However, just to say, if Waddington can't take an A330, it must only leave Brize and perhaps Lossiemouth (apart from the civil airports) able to take a 'Voyager'.

I certainly can't think of any other current operational RAF base in this country.

Interesting.

Its not to say Waddington cant take the A330, just that in Airshow set up it would be very difficult.

Cheers SilentFlight - thanks for the clarification.

Secondly, may I take this opportunity to say 'well-done' for such a good and varied line-up for this years show - well done to you and the team.

Vulcan Cancelled.

To avoid any continuing uncertainty and to clarify our current position, Michael Trotter, our Business Development Director yesterday contacted all of the display organisers booked up to and including RAF Waddington, to advise them that XH558 would not be able to attend. Therefore, our target for the first public display of 2012 will be at RAF Fairford, for the Royal International Air Tattoo.

We are obviously sorry for anyone expecting to see the aircraft at events in June, but in light of circumstances, we felt it best to make an early call on the likely availability and timescale to a return to flight, considering new engines will have to be air-tested before we can consider undertaking a public display.
