Arrivals 2012

Postby Unsung on Wed 20 Jun 2012, 4:27 pm

Hokay I must admit I have been stalking this board for a good few months now - wadd is my local show and it's getting pretty close.

As this will be my first year attempting to view arrivals - does an arrival schedule get released or is it just pot luck? I won't be able to go both days and for the whole day.

Thanks.

No it doesn't before hand, tho' often word gets out what is expected on what day. You will get a timetable of projected arrivals when you pay but it rarely runs to time as things are so fluid.

Great, thanks. I went last year but I was at the other side of the airfield to the PAVE. (luckily for me that's where everyhting was landing that particular day)

Edit - Maybe we can use this thread as anticipated arrivals date/time thread.

In the past Thursday's has been media day so the display teams are often in and will go up. Think of it as a mini airshow. This usually happens at 1pm after lunch. Most of us are there before 8am though as aircraft will come in throughout the morning but its a slow build up to the afternoon.

Friday is then usually the static aircraft's arrivals day and again, we're there from early on with it getting busier around 10am onwards.

Thats never set in stone but for the past decade it seems to be along those lines.

One exception has been when a team needs to get approval such as the Vulcan a couple of years ago and this can happen on the Tuesday or Wednesday or when the Turkish stars came in (or was it the Thunderbirds last year?)

But yea, thats sort of what happens.

Timings won't be published until the day. Or at least i've never seen them any earlier.

Anyone got any idea when the Qatari heavies will arrive?

IIRC the Aussie Wedgetail will be arriving early next week?

I am unable to get tomorrow, any idea if the Wedgetail will fly any sorties whilst at Waddington?

If not, any inkling on a departure date?

TIA Phil

(Sorry for asking about its departure, before it has even arrived)

Also, the Polish display team are due in tomorrow in the afternoon.
