In the photo below, the Swiss Garden and BoP Centre are behind the hangars so you'll see that everything's close at hand.

That car park is for volunteers and coaches, freeloaders have quite a long walk.

There's an overhead view of the whole site in this thread http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=21836

Weather appears to be holding up quite nicely for Sunday, so I have gone for the advance on-line ticket (You have until 3pm on Saturday to save the £6!). I haven't been here for absolute yonks. Looking forward to this early season bonus.

Yeh, but if the winds anything like today (as forecast) it'll cause havoc with the the light stuff. Think you can right off the Edwardians..

Thanks for the link, Brian. The PO-2 looked rather good a couple of weeks ago.

The following flew today, others cancelled due to high winds which seemed to get stronger during the afternoon:

Miles Magister (Pair)
DH82a Tiger Moth
de Haviland Chipmunk
Avro Tutor
Desoutter
Royal Aircraft Factory SE5a
Antonov AN2
The Yakolevs Aerobatic Display Team
Polikarpov PO2 (First ever UK public display)
North American Sabre
Percival Piston Provost
Westland Lysander
Hawker Sea Hurricane Mk1b
de Havilland DH60 Moth

An excellent effort all round despite the very breezy crosswind.

Thanks

Credit must go to all the pilots for todays sterling effort in difficult flying conditions.

A great start to the Shuttleworth year

Given the conditions, I was slightly amazed anything got airborne - you could see all the pilots fighting the vicious crosswind (though it did make for a brilliant 'dead-stop' by the An-2!), and there were some very hairy looking landings. Particular kudos to Dodge Bailey for determinedly getting the PO-2 into the air, and ensuring the very healthy crowd didn't go home disappointed

Fair play to them all, I had difficulty holding the lawn mower straight, let alone a flimsy biplane... just so typical of this country's weather, beautiful gin clear blue but a wind that can strip the enamel off your teeth...
Diid the BBMF Dak make it??
