Spring Show

Post by classicaviation »

So the list has been announced for May 1st. Most of the usuals are there, subject to weather etc, with the addition of BBMF Dakota Flypast, F86A Sabre, An2, Yak Display Team and the eagerly awaited debut Po2! Should be a great little show to start the year!

It's a good-looking list (PO-2 & the return of the Desoutter are definitely tasty), but given recent editions, I rather expect it to be decimated by the weather. Frankly, I'll be happy if we can avoid last year's sub-Arctic wind chill

Looks nice. The PO2 is the obvious highlight, but we don't see an AN2 there that often, there was one in a couple of years ago but it didn't display. Also, the BBMF Dak in her new livery, plus the Sabre. Just need some nice weather...

Nice list, though wouldn't have minded a Spitfire and/or Mustang in there. Sabre and Polikarpov will be my highlights- very keen to shoot the former at OW especially.

Should be a cracking start to the season :)

I'm looking forward to this one, not seen the sabre in the flesh yet,
I think It should be a good first airshow to go to with the new camera.
Also the gardens and the birds keep the missus happy!

Ditto. Though if you can tear yourself away from the aircraft, the Bird of Prey Centre is highly recommended

The Swift is, of course, awesome - but if I had to list all the awesome aircraft to be found at OW, we'd be here all day! FWIW my personal favourite has always been the Parnall Elf, sadly not currently flying...

Nice pics Rob, but I'd be hard pressed to ever call a Comper Swift "lovely"...

Yes, two very nice pictures, thanks Rob. I have no qualms calling the Swift "lovely" though.... cos I think it is  (each to his own etc etc)

I shall be there on Sunday

Normally get there about 11am have a wander around the hangers, grab a bite to eat then settle down for the show.
If you wanted to have a look at the birds of prey or the swiss gardens (inc in ticket price I believe) as well you should get there earlier.

Could be a a good attendance with the Polikarpov making it's debut.

Cheers

In the photo below, the Swiss Garden and BoP Centre are behind the hangars so you'll see that everything's close at hand.
