Re: Autumn Airshow 2012
Great show today. Edwardians and the Vampire stole the show for us.
Re: Autumn Airshow 2012
Went to the show today but was unable to get a programme for the show, first time have not been able to do this, if there is anyone who has a spare/unwanted one could you please PM me as really want one to be able to keep up my collection of one from every show I have attended. Will happily pay for it and pay for postage etc.
Thanks,
Scott

Now sorting through all the photos but really enjoyed today. Wanted to get to Old Warden earlier in the year but unfortunatly never could make it when I planned. Today was really enjoyable, good and varied line up. Never get fed up of seeing the Hawker biplanes and the Vampire and Hunter were really good today as well. Can't wait to go back to Shuttleworth next year, hopefully they will have more of their collection back in the sky where they belong!

Absolutely fantastic show today. The Vampire and the Lysander were the major highlights for me. Was also a real treat to see all of the Edwardians.

Re: Autumn Airshow 2012
Had a wonderful day out at Old Warden today, I agree that the Vampire and Hunter were real highlights, Anyone know why the Vampire T11 was shown everywhere on information etc, but the T55 displayed? Not that I am complaining as I have wanted to see the T55 for many many years.
So glad to see the Edwardians fly again too, always a wonderful sight.
I will post some photos tomorrow.
Thanks Old Warden team, hope 2013 be a far better year than 2012.

The T11 and T55 are essentially the same, T55 was the export designation of the T11. Not sure why it was on the list as the T11 though?

Even the leaflet with the times had a lovely photos of the T11 so I wondered if the T55 was a late swap, I agree they are essentially the same design. But it was lovely to see the T55 for a change, maybe next year they will appear together somewhere

Agreed, shame they couldn't have got the Venom and Meteor as well, but that probably would've smashed their budget!
Re: Autumn Airshow 2012
But the T55 is in that meaningless camo scheme whereas the T11 is a properly turned out bit of kit... Makes the difernence for me and not taken by that JP's new scheme - a one off wasn't it? Bizarre.
Still wish I had gone, can't tell from the photos posted but were the RE8, Albatrosssssss and Comet out in the sunlight??

Yeah the T55 camo scheme isn't great, but it was still nice to see it. The JP scheme is very similar to the JP T1 at Cosford, not sure if that's what they based it on?

Unfortunately not!

Not as much sunshine as forecast unfortunately.

Re: Autumn Airshow 2012
It was an enjoyable show. I thought the Hunter, Vampire and Jet Provost were all flown excellently for the venue.
Nice to see something a little different at a Shuttleworth show, perhaps next year they could do something similar with warbirds, bring in a couple from Hangar11 and two or three from Duxford. The Buchons would be nice to see away from Duxford, or P-40F and Snafu.
Really enjoyed the SE5a and F2b routine, superbly flown, as were the Hawker biplanes and the Lysander. I was glad that the latter made it to the programme - I thought it was a surprising omission from the original participation list. It's the star item of the collection IMO, and strikes me as an under-appreciated warbird.

Yes, shame about that. BBC site was forecasting wall to wall sunshine, so I was hoping for a day similar to last year's autumn display. When it clouded over here at about 11am I was in two minds as to whether or not to attend. Turned out OK in the end, but that thin cloud just made the light hazy.

Just for the avoidance of doubt, there is not an additional show this year. Don't know why it was ever mentioned.
The de Havilland Moth Club will be holding their Charity Flying Weekend next weekend (13/14 Oct) postponed from June because of weather.

It definitely was mentioned by one of the commentators at the Military Air Pageant. I have it on the sound track of my video!

There was quite a bit of fog on the way up, particularly on the M3, but I thought 'this is going to burn off soon, then it's going to be a beauiful sunny day to make up for all the crap weather we've had this summer'. Didn't quite work out that way, at least not until late in the day.

It was also nice to hear Roger Hoefling back behind the mic doing the commentary at Old Warden. I've not heard him commentate at a show for years.

Was that him? Always my favourite airshow commentator. Please remind me about the Ryanair gag.
