I believe they're at Shuttleworth until the 14th August, when they move to their new home at Stow Maries.

PLEASE let there be nice weather this time! All three times I've been to Old Warden this year, it was dull/gray/wet...

Would love to see the Mew Gull with blue sky behind it...

BBC says it'll be wet. Nice weather all week long, as usual. :wall:

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A good deal of dry, very warm weather with sunny spells but also showers, some heavy and thundery, and cloud may be rather persistent at times in eastern areas.

Nice weather all week, then we get to an Old Warden weekend and the heavy clouds roll in :( , how many times has that happened this year? Though it should be dry in the afternoon now, just lots of cloud.

Very much wx dependent. OW shows are beautifully flexible and if the wx has been poor or out of limits for certain items (usually the flimsy Edwardians) and if there's a glimmer of calmer conditions they will wait and fly what they can. A 17.00 programmed finish to proceedings can easily become a 19.00 finish! Well worth the wait though especially on a calm Summer evening.

But it was a lovely evening at the Pageant.

Didn't XC say the same about Flying Legends on Saturday and the Met said it was going to be worse, but XC were right? Face it weather forecasting is a guessing game.

I normally use the BBC. They said that Saturday of the Legends/RIAT weekend would be the best, with plenty of sunshine. It was the morning at Legends that was forecast to be iffy, but that it would clear up in the afternoon.

Now XC are showing more cloud and the BBC and Met are showing less cloud, so they are now about the same ;) Looks like the wind could be a bit gusty though.

Both sites now show the weather to be fine, typically, until the flying starts at which point the clouds will roll in. Will make a very late decision in the morning whether or not to go, really would rather not stand under cloud again!

Hunter is no longer listed by the way.

Yh but at most airshows it always appears that the gates open earlier than advertised  e.g shoreham said 8am last year, however the people in front of me had been in the spot that they were in since 7:30
Are Shuttleworth normally good with their timings? Or do the gates actually open before this time?

The thing with Shuttleworth is there is no need to arrive at an ungodly hour to get a spot on the front - I rocked up 30 minutes before flying started and got on the front in the past (albeit on a poor weather day). Also there is never more than a 3-car queue for the car park so you needn't worry about that aspect either!

Weather forecasts? BAH!
We could hardly have wished for better weather!
Warm, sunny, blue skies and fluffy white clouds.

What a great a way to spend a Sunday afternoon :-D

Indeed - there is no rush at Shuttleworth. The atmosphere is "family picnic". No queues to speak of, no crowdline melee...

Great. That's 3 times this year now I've passed on going to a show due to crap forecasts, only to find out they were completely wrong. Why do I bother...

Did the Nimrod display? And the DH51?

DH51 was on static but didn't display, Nimrod was a no show.

But a good day was had by all none the less!

I should have trusted XC! But who can you trust when it comes to weather guessing.

I also didn't go and decided to work instead. Oh well I can't go to all the Shuttleworth shows I guess. Here's hoping the August shows have nice weather.

A very pleasant day at OW yesterday though a very disjointed one with notable gaps in the flying - something one doesnt normally notice here. Yet again the flimsy, dainty, almost Edwardian-esque Nimrod couldn't be bothered to turn up from a few miles away yet a gyroplane made it all the way from Blackpool....Poor show TFC.
BBMF Spit pair could have been outstanding for the photographer, rather than just awesome for watching - they were very much on the crowd line rather than being just a way off; I wonder if the pilots of the Mew Gull and Mystery machine could be pursuaded to fly them next time as they were perfect every time. The Fauvel glider, formation combos, crowd pleasing barnstorming and beautiful Spartan were stand out moments.
However, though one can never leave OW having anything other than a very special afternoon, with the loss of Hunter, Nimrod, Avro 504, Bristol M1c and the Edwardians plus the rather shortened displays by some of the home team, the £25 entry price does start to hurt a bit, especially when turning up 2, 3 even 4 times a year...
