Ladies, Gentlemen & Alternates, please join me in any kind of magic ritual you're able to perform such that we have the maximum chance of seeing the Sea Vixen at Abingdon & maybe Fly Navy II??
News of any kind is hard to come by from Navy Wings HQ, especially for the technology-challenged (like myself). The only snippet of bad news came via a micro-update relating to the 'Supporters Day' tomorrow, Saturday May 6th.

There's a dedicated thread to the Sea Vixen in the Aviation Waffle section of this forum, Navy Wings themselves have said the aircraft will miss its appearance at Abingdon however they are still hopeful of making Duxford, the last weekend of May.

Thanks for the heads-up Ryan.
A the time of my original posting there was no update information available aside from the item I included.

From the latest update on their website it seems it won't be ready in time:

Ryan.

Iwasn't arguing that it was anything other than proposed. Of course a flying list is always going to change with differing commitments and serviceability.

I meant that I don't see anything else significant being added to this list. May well be wrong, only time will tell.[/quote]

I would keep some optimism in regards to the participation list, there's always stuff in the mixer that team are working on up until the final week of the show

Anyone know if the Seafire III will be landing at the show this year?

As far as I am aware the fighter collection and Seafire III will be operating from there bases (Sywell/Duxford) like the previous show

Ugh. Thanks for the info.

Not so fussed about the TFC stuff, but the Seafire I'd love to see on the ground up close. Get them to change their minds.

Skyraider still expected to make the show? Hasn't left the hangar yet AFAIK.

As it stands the Skyraider is still due to display at the show.

I am, fussed I mean, particularly as hopefully they will be back to the old rules regarding distance from the crowd etc.

It's cancelled from Cosford, so surely won't make Old Warden? :dunno:

I meant about stuff to land. Really want to see the Seafire up close, I enjoy looking at and photographing these machines along the fence at OW.

As some of you are aware, the Sea Vixen had to make a forced landing this afternoon returning from its display at Duxford, due to undercarriage failure.
Cdr Hargreaves made textbook landing and is apparently ok. Overall damage to the aircraft is unknown however pictures indicate damage to its fuel tanks.
The Sea Vixen is unlikely to be attending the show, though a big thanks to all the chaps involved for the effort they put in to getting her airborne again. Hopefully we will see her over skies of Shuttleworth sometime in the future.
