If we look at this show purely from a number crunching aspect it wasn't a classic - "only" 12 countries attended and the general feeling was it was a poorer show compared to the Greenhams- this obviously changed big time from '87 and into the '90s. But just looking at this great collection of images just underlines the incredible variety that even a "lesser" IAT could muster and was fairly commonplace at the bigger military events back then, fab days indeed.
That T8M and the 56 Sqn Phantom departures are classic captures Derek and you almost forget little gems like XW930 in her old clothes; as Caper said an incredible line up from the MoD(PE) - 16 unique aeroplanes - which is about as many as the combined UK Armed Forces send these days!
You have probably captured me and my mate in the F-111E pic- not being in FIAT and not knowing the airfield that well we opted for Rhymes field to view departures - I think there were 5/6(!) of us there in total including a groundcrewman from Wittering IIRC.
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!
