Sea Harrier FSR1 1980-86

Sea Harrier FSR1 1980-86

Postby Fred Martin on Fri 22 Oct 2010, 7:07 pm

Here's a small selection of early SHAR'S , mostly photographed at Yeovilton in the days when the FAA still had fixed wing strike aircraft , not to mention the means to deploy them . These were certainly memorable times , wandering down RNAS Yeoviltons flight lines on early morning photographic sessions just after the crack of dawn , with a press pass of course ! I cannot imagine that a line of JSFs could ever have the same appeal .

Stunning!

How long did it take the SHARS to come out of their all-over Dark Sea Grey?

Must have been standing next to you for some of these, Fred - as I have virtually identical shots buried in the archive. Hope you don't mind if I add a couple...

Reckon you must have missed the 1979 show, otherwise I'm sure you would have posted this tasty example from 700A Squadron. It was the only one I got carrying these markings...

And a low angle one from 1980...when the Sea Harrier undoubtedly looked its best. A nice paint scheme, colourful markings, pristine jets and good access to boot. What more could you ask for?

Very nice, top quality shots. Again Fred they look like they came straight off a DSLR! Thought the SHar looked fantastic innthe original markings with their squadron marked tails. More please.

Thanks Lindsay , but I don't usually miss much . Here are a couple of extra shots , XZ451 in flight and a comparitivly rare shot of an 800NAS machine visiting Binbrook . I was saving these for a future posting sometime soon.

Think 003 is actually an 801 NAS aircraft.

Fred, excellent, simply excellent, every one of those photos i would proudly display on my wall, just love that colour, and those 2 classic NAS tail fins, will we ever see the like again??

F35, we will see, they are going ot cost so much, F18s are half the price, there is a new US report commissioned by Obana looking at cost saving, saying they dont need all the F35s.
anyway your photos are simply beautiful, if only i could one one fly like this again,

more please :yahoo:
