Abandoned Airfields No3 Bentwaters/Woodbridge

Post by Fred Martin »

While stricktly speaking Bentwaters still has some limited civil aviation activities , gone are the glory days when Phantoms and later , A-10's were active here . Although I didn't manage to visit here nearly often enough , this was one of my favorite airfields for photography as accessability here was excellent , almost as good as being on base ! Most of these Phantom slides were shot at Bentwaters between 1976-78, except the first two early F-4C shots , including the cartridge start , being taken at RAF Leconfield in 1968 . Happy days !
Anyone shoot the F-101 Voodoo's in the early sixties ?

Superb set Fred. Only did Bentwaters a couple of times when the A-10's were there, I agree it was fantastic for shots.

Oh Crap, all of a sudden I feel decidely old.Didn't go to the twin bases at Bentwaters and Woodbridge too often, but I recall going to a Bentwaters Airshow many, many moons ago with my father and remember seeing based Phantoms in static and over the far side(I believe they were coded WR and WS) and would you believe the Blue Angels gave a display flying Phantoms (F-4Js)!!!  Many thanks for posting Fred as I always enjoy and look forward to your trips down memory lane.Cheers dude,Best Regards,Dave...

I very nice selection. I really like the second one, just about sums the F-4 up for me.
