Hopstens phlying horse

Open day end of july 1996 at JG 72 "Westfalen" in Rheine-Hopsten, Germany.
The field closed some years ago and JG 72 was disbanded. Today the only remaining phantoms
of the Luftwaffe are based with JG 71 "Richthofen" in Wittmund waiting for the eurofighter.
The westphalian horse of JG 72 is displayed on F-4F (38+60). It is just superb, isn´t it?

Hi Gustav - that's one very special paint scheme you've captured. Have you any idea what the significance is of the Ferrari emblem painted on the pod in your 6th picture ?

Thanks for posting these historical pictures,
Phil
