Postby The Dudster on Sat 23 Jun 2012, 1:45 pm

found these from my grandparents house clearance. As far as im aware they were self developed and circa 1964ish and must have been taken at Southend due to there location living at Rochford during the 60's ??
apart from the spitfire i have no idea what they are.

Sorry for the really bad scans but they are as found hope someone can help

Looks like these were printed on that 'dappled' photo paper that makes scanning such a problem.
First photo looks like a Tiger Club operated wing walking Tiger Moth, second the Avro Lincoln that was then in the Historic Air Museum at Southend. Final one an early mark Spitfire(most prob AR213 or MH4343) landing with a Cessna 150 in the foreground. The date would be post 1967 when the Lincoln arrived.

That Lincoln shot at Southend is almost identical to this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shanair/6803804573/ but even more so with this one from 1970: http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1062596/ (note the prop positions in both shots)

Cosford have the infamous 'haunted' example on display - the one from Southend ended up being exported to Australia - not sure how it faired since?

The Lincoln was a faster/longer ranger/bigger load development of the lanc. There are also a couple preserved in Argentina . G-APRJ served as a test bed by Napiers at Luton.
