Su-27 at Woodford

Su-27 at Woodford

Just one pic, and a poor one at that, photographed digitally of a 10x8 print (original negative currently unlocated).

I believe this is Anatoly Kvochur flying this Flanker, from the Russian Test Pilots duo, at a BAe Woodford show sometime in the early 1990s. If I remember rightly this wasn't part of the take off but a low pass he made. Still incredible to think we were treated to displays by such machines so soon after the Cold War.

Happy days indeed.

I'm afraid I don't have anything similar to hand, I happened to find the 10x8 by accident. Must dig out the negatives some day. Woodford shows were something else, always seemed to be something interesting each year.

what was the year it rained? (yes it rained every year) but the year it rained all morning with no viz at all and the comentator kept saying we have a surprise if it clears a little to which no one took any notice as we were all sat in our cars, then a F117 flew past. Something like WT* was said

Wasnt it the same year that the cloud cleard but only over half the airfield but again the commentator started saying we have another surprise to which every one got out of their cars this time and (this may be in my immiganiation) to hear the Blade Runner theme playing to witness a B1 emerge from the left and at low level out of the cloud (which was down to 0 feet) to do a sngle pass
