I took this picture of the David Lloyd sports centre in Hatfield on Sunday morning.
This one was taken a few yards further back and 23 years ago.

Re: Hatfield Time warp
Haven't been on that stretch of the A1(M) for years so hadn't realised the airfield had disappeared until a quick look at Google Maps.

The aeroplane, tall lamppost, short lamppost, central reservation, something up on the top right of the building, words on the building, van, two cars, tree, hedge, painted bottom of the building blue. I hope there are only 12 differences in this spot the difference competition.

I do find "then and now" pictures really fascinating.
Used to drive past regularly in the mid/late 70s/early eighties on the way up to Mildenhall.
I too was shocked some years later when I checked it out on Google maps. It shows how quickly any trace of an airfield can disappear once planning permission is granted, compared to some of the WW2 airfields that have been disused for sixty odd years but returned to farming, where the layout is still easily made out when looking from above.
