Now the images!! From the archives - VC-10 in Rio

Post by Operti »

Hi everyone,

Back in the old days when I used negative film, this lady ruled the skies. They then used to stop at Galeão Air Force Base, in Rio, coming and going from and to Falklands. At those simplier times, we would find them at the Modern Military Photos board. Now I must post this gem here at the Warbird & Classic Jet Photos.

It was a hot and smoggy June morning in 2004. The crew was reluctant to hit back the road after refueling, as they were unsure about the weather at Stanley. So they were promptly provided a weather report by the Brazilian Air Force liaison officer, eager to call the day, showing CAVOK skies down south. Head scratches, deliberations. A fault was found. Who can blame them for enjoying a couple afternoons and nights in warm, sunny and cheerful Rio? It was a nice hot June morning.

And here the happiest crew in the entire RAF that day.

The images are hosted in my own website, and this is pretty much their size, 1000px wide.

Thanks, Steve! As I said, those were simplier times. I was there working, but doing it today would be an Hercules job.

Oh I'm sorry! I thought you wanted a direct link showed in the board. What you were watching was a problem in either my host or the forum, and it took a while to identify and bypass it.
