RAF Marham Photocall - April 2002

Post by Jetnoise »

The controversy surrounding this week's RAF Marham event sent me looking for my photos from an event held in 2002 to mark the 90th Anniversary of 2 Sqn. The day started with us being positioned at the end of the runway (unfortunately on the wrong side for the sun) but a little negotiation enabled a move to a location more favourable for taxiing shots. This was followed by a ride over to the shelter area for some static shots. All in all, a great day with some wonderful settings available and some rather tasty guests....

I hope these rekindled some happy memories for those who attended.

Great shots from a very enjoyable event. The only F-104 I ever saw flying, although at the time I wasn't really fussed by it, preferring the Tornados and Mirages etc. Foolish type.

Don't recall a bus ride around to the statics though, that was the second day wasn't it?

Maybe I am mistaken and we walked from the threshold to the shelter area - a lot of water under the bridge since then! Here are a couple of the F104 and a Mirage arriving - I was there on the first day to catch the arrivals, but (if I recall correctly) a last minute runway change meant that we were not in a good position for the light...

Cheers,
Ralph

Certainly did! I was there with my trusty Nikon FE and K64! Shows how a photo-shoot could and should be run!

Yep - I was there too, and have some very similar shots, plus some of the old Bucc's as well.

Great day as you say :)
