Re: RIAT 1998
Some very nice photos which bring back some fantastic memories.
Wasn't it the Monday Departures Day that year when the Ukrainian TU-22M couldn't get clerance to depart (didn't have the right transponder or something)? It spent over an hour next to the Park & View, engines running, burning fuel, stinking the place out. I remember burying my head in my jacket trying to get away from the pungent smell, eyes watering, barely able to breathe.
In the end, along with almost everyone else, we decided to leave, fearing our lungs would suffer permanent damage.
If I recall correctly, it finally left on the Tuesday or Wednesday.
Happy days!
