Where's the tanker gone? Only a BAe 146, 4x Typhoon and the Reds over Chelmsford.

BBMF did post that it will not be flying because of the weather. But not quite sure why the The Voyager didn't participate it was holding over the North Sea with the Typhoons and the BAe 146.

Correct me if I am wrong but BBC called the 4 Typhoons GR4 and Lightnings.
As said what a poor show.

Dont know why they dont scrap it.Most of the Royals could not care less and managed to have more in the D.Day flypast at Portsmouth.

I imagine that most cancelled due to the weather. It was pretty windy north of Chelmsford.

Back in the 90s we had a few years of the flypast being just a diamond 16 of Tornados.
I think 1991 was just 3 Shackletons.

Weather was truly dreadful for low flying just north of Ipswich... The typhoons were just scraping along below the very low cloud base and avoiding/passing through heavy showers. Never seen them so low. Same for the Red Arrows....
Not surprised that some of the larger aeroplanes did not make it to London.

Given the circumstances... Very well done to those involved.

Watching BBC they only just made it to the balcony for the flypast.

The whole event is choreographed. They went onto the balcony on plan... and stood exactly where they were told.

None of which implies or even begins to suggest that 'most of them' are not interested. Actually I thought they all looked like they enjoyed it.

Couldn't agree more. Not seen Her Majesty smile like she did when the Reds turned up for quite some time!

Not disagreeing. I'm sure we all enjoy bits of our job and tolerate the rest. Also, there is evidence of the Royal family having a soft spot for aviation.

And of course you've seen them all since 1913 to be able to make that statement then?

From Wiki
The connection of Trooping the Colour with Royal Air Force flypasts began in 1913 when the Royal Flying Corps Military Wing performed a flypast for King George V on Laffan's Plain, near Aldershot

That was the 16 jags, postponed til 1600, when they got up they entered a thundercloud over Ipswich, a flash and everyone twitched not good in a tight formation, so the STN CDR called it quits. Double whammy for me as I had arranged for the 54 lads to open the school fete(local rag headline- RAF to flypast at 100 feet!!!), pissing down in worstead.
