I belive there will be no other flying (apart from Air Ambo) tomorrow at Cosford because of the size of the Globemaster.

I can't wait to see peoples shots of the landing, it should be great if they're operating from runway 24!

Where is the best place to park up?

Winds are currently westerly so 24 is looking good, but its only half 9 now and here in Brum its clear blue skies at the moment!

i think the best place to park would be the museum and then walk down to the station platform (about a 10 min walk). I'm in wolves currently and the light looks fantastic!!!

From someone in the know. It's still due in at 1300, however will be coming in on the 06 end. So no good shots from the railway bridge I'm afraid. However it will be giving a couple of flyovers first.

Fine here. You may need to amend your time settings in your User Control Panel.

You need to change your clock settings from BST to GMT in your user control panel.

It'll be dark by the time it lands!

Thanks for the heads up Peter, it was an enjoyable afternoon down at Cosford. It was impressive in how unspectacular the arrival was. Very cool indeed.

I've put some pictures up, then noticed Figgis has beat me to it. So there's two lots of very similar pics in Modern Mil

Aeroplane in landing in calm fashion shock... what did people expect, screaming brakes, wings shaking, clouds of dust, white-faced pilots...?

What time did the Globemaster leave, any shots of the departure?

I wish I could have been there...
And no problems about the heads up. It's what fourms like UKAR are for!

Hi Peter
Thanks for your headsup I got some interesting shots today, The delay in unloading and departure was apparently down to a brake problem on the ch-53 on unloading apparently a small fire was caused. departure didn't happen at 3.00pm indeed when we left at 3.30 it still had its ramp down so sorry I can't help you on departure time, Ive only just got home so I will post some pics later.

I didn't hear any mention of a fire during unloading... They did have an issue when she was being towed to the hangar however.

Really enjoyable afternoon. UKAR Feature Report to follow, hopefully for the weekend.

Just watched the News report on BBC Midlands Today, some good footage of the Globemaster landing!

Christmas also came early to the aviation enthusiasts who captured the take-off of a giant that they never thought they'd see at Cosford.
