Where about on the airfield would these more than likely park up? Air terminal side or HMS Gannet side, have only been to Prestwick once so not familiar with the place.

Terminal side i would think, in the area to the west of the mound would be my guess. It is possible to get right next to the fence their but it's in some works site covered by airport bylaws etc. If they park their you may be able to quickly pop in and shoot them through the fence...i did for some Sherpas a while back and noone of the cars passing us stopped and told us to move on

If you go to google maps and look at Prestwick the mound is the grassy area to the east of Shaw Rd. Where i shot the Sherpas from is where the bizjets are (east of Elvis St)

Example from that location

Pretty much. The mound area is as circled, the Sherpas were parked around where those spam cans are (SE of the bizjets)

The top bizjets in that screenshot is in the same place this C-21 was in (taken at circa 18mm). You can see half a sherpa in the background, hopefully that can give some orientation help.

Hi Andrew, that vantage point is no longer available (since the Stop the War people broke in a couple of years ago). There is a security guard check point and only staff are allowed in.
I've enclosed a rather poor photo of the UN Dash 7 parked on apron golf and taken from Shaw Farm/Mound last week. Not the best, would need to get them landing or taxying for decent photos. Also, security is pretty tight, we get regular visits from the friendly and yet 'special' police to check everything is alright.

The Aravas are reportedly night stopping, although no times as yet for departures on Wednesday. If these a/c are fully marked up I may even contemplate heading down. The 3 a/c are YS07N, YS08N and YS09N which are El Salvador registrations Civ or Mil I don't know.

Some went through in the 80's, dug out a Papua New Guinea one. Used to park them at the terminal. Not any more, but even here the new fence is small bore and no use for photos.

Ach they're ten a penny

Thats a rare bird, but what the hell was it going through Prestwick for? You would've expected it to have routed via the Mid East/ India/ Far East.

Hi, 4X-CUS is behind it, several went through and routed via Iceland, Canada and down the west side of the USA. Must be to do with range, diversion facilities etc. Prestwick, like Shannon, benefits greatly from this routing.
If they're all white they'll look like this one 4X-FDD.

Hi,

At leaset one is all over grey with serial on the lower part of the tail fin. No national markings while test flying.

Source: HP, Heinz does it matter....... If told in confidence don't go spouting off about it on any forums. Its not called the world wide web for no reason.

Regards
Marc

Danny,

The flight plans have currently been xcd from the Brussels flow management system - I shall keep an eye on the situation and let you know. Possibility of a tech airframe, I would imagine.
