Anyone know when the Typhoons are due back at Northolt for the Olympics.

Heard a rumour they may be returning this week

This is probably no longer viewed as a military Exercise and is probably an Operation...

The previous deployment was a training and familiarisation process. This would appaer to be the start of the Operational flying or a prelude to that phase starting. My understanding was the crews will perform some non-QRA flights to keep familiar with local air traffic conditions and other such issues.

Oddly enough an RAF Hercules just overflew Coventry [city area] anything Olympics-related?

Radio stations are reporting that from tomorrow the skies over London become RAF controled and that any aircraft or helicopter entering the area could be shot down.
I would say it makes good sensational news headlines for them, but for me I am looking forward to seeing military aircraft about hoping they will have nothing to do for the whole time.

Does anyone know if the Typhoons are due to fly from Northolt apart from exceptional circumstances.Seems a shame to see them sitting in the hangers with nothing to do although in a way that is a good thing.

Sky news just showed HMS Ocean going up the Thames, apparently they are going to base typhoons off ocean. :hide: :lmao:

A Puma has been flying over East London today at various times, presumably going to and from their Ilford TA base?

Who writes the scripts for this, presumably someone thinks apart from the fantasy of Typhoons operating from Ocean that Typhoons would operate happily low down along the Thames.

Great sight, but don't fancy the stress levels.

Cannot understand typhoons being at Northolt doing nothing for 4 weeks.surely they would better deployed somewhere else and it wouldnt take long to fly from Coningsby if there was a threat.Bit different if they are Leuchars based

What do the pilots and crew get up to..They must be bored out of there brains.

No different to being on QRA at CBY or LEU, they just wait for the scramble bell. As for being based at Northolt, I'm sure the RAF have thought this one through, it's far quicker to fly outward toward an inbound threat.

Is it true the Typhoons at Northolt are leaving after the Olympics finish and returning for the return of the Paralympics
